Silver sulfate is the colourless ionic compound mainly used in silver plating of articles. Silver sulfate when exposed to natural air or light it darkens and forms a light black layer. It is an odourless chemical compound that is minimally soluble in water.

Silver Sulfate Structural Formula
Silver Sulfate structural formula is as shown in the figure below. Silver sulfate is formed when sulfuric acid reacts with silver nitrate. During the reaction, Ag+ ion is formed and hence 2 equivalent silver ions will give rise to a neutral salt along with 1 equivalent sulfate ion.
